The multiplier hearts

The crowned, winged hearts are what turn small Starlight Princess wins into big ones. Here is every value they can take, how they pay in each part of the game, and how often each one turned up in our 5,000 test spins.

How a heart pays

A heart is a multiplier symbol. It can land on any reel, on any spin and on any tumble, and when it lands it shows a value. What happens next depends on where you are:

  • Base game: when the tumble chain ends, the values of all hearts on the screen are added together, and the chain's total win is multiplied by that sum. A 10x and a 5x make 15x. If the chain won nothing, the hearts do nothing.
  • Free spins: each heart that lands on a winning spin is added to a total multiplier that lasts the whole round. A winning spin with a new heart pays its win times the whole total. See it in our simulator.
  • Super Free Spins (Super Scatter only): the same rule, but no heart below 10x can land.

Hearts come in four colours (green, blue, pink and gold), but the colour is decoration: the number on the heart is what counts.

Every value, and how often we saw it

Counts are hearts that landed in our test of each game (1,000 plain spins and the bought rounds), each heart counted once per spin. The game doesn't publish how often each value lands.

What the counts tell you

Small hearts are the everyday ones. In every 6×5 game, 2x and 3x were the most common values by far, and most hearts we saw were worth 6x or less. A free spins round is usually built from a handful of these.

The big values are rare. Across 5,000 spins and 45 bought 6×5 rounds we saw a 50x heart five times, one 500x heart, and no 100x, 250x or 1000x at all. When a big heart does land on a good tumble chain, it changes everything: our single 500x heart, together with a 25x, paid 1,653.75x on one Christmas spin.

Super Free Spins shift the mix, not the rule. With the small values removed, totals climb faster: our five Super Free Spins rounds ended at 25x to 59x. But a total only pays when a new heart lands on a winning spin, so a high total does not guarantee a high result.

Pachi has no hearts. Its only multiplier is set in a mini game before Super Free Spins, where winged cats worth x1 to x91 each add up to one multiplier for every win. See the Pachi page.

Questions about the multipliers

What is the highest multiplier in Starlight Princess?

500x in the original, Christmas and Super Scatter. Starlight Princess 1000 adds a 1000x multiplier.

Do multipliers add up or multiply each other?

They add up. Two hearts of 10x and 5x make 15x, both in the base game and in the free spins total.

How often do multiplier hearts land?

Pragmatic doesn't publish it. In our tests a heart landed in about 3% to 4% of plain spins in the 6×5 games, mostly small values from 2x to 6x.

What do the heart colours mean?

Nothing you need to track. Hearts come in green, blue, pink and gold, but the number on the heart is the multiplier.
